Mamie's Butter Balls
2 sticks soft butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 Tsp. salt
2 cups chopped nuts
confectionary sugar
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla, the flour and salt which you've sifted together.
Add chopped nuts and mix thoroughly.
Roll into 1 inch balls - like little meatballs.
Bake 20 minutes at 300 degrees. **Put aluminum foil on the bottom of the rack in the oven to prevent burning on the bottom.**
Cool slightly. Roll in confectionary sugar while still warm but be careful! Too hot and the confectionary sugar will melt!
These are traditional at Christmas in my family and are addictively good!
